Self-Help Information
The Self-Help Resource Room provides free information about a variety of mental health and wellness topics of special interest to students. Topics include Stress Management, Communications, Skills, Relationships and Career Exploration. For a list of the books available to read click here:
CTC Self-Help Library.
We also have pamphlets and books available at the Counseling & Testing Center. If you can't come the the CTC you can click on the links below to see some of the information we provide. No appointment is necessary to collect some of our pamphlets or to review our book selection.
Virtual Pamphlets A collection of pamphlets on mental health topics from college counseling centers all over the country. Topics include: depression, anxiety, anger, stress, internet addiction (impulse control), etc.
Crisis Intervention Crisis appointments are available during normal operating hours to students who may be experiencing a crisis situation. The student, or anyone referring the student, may request crisis scheduling. This service is not to replace ongoing counseling, but is there for crises. For after-hours crisis intervention, call the CTC at 885-6716 and one of the options will be to speak with a crisis counselor, call 911, or call the nearest hospital emergency room.
Internet Addiction/Overuse
There has been a number of recent requests for information about Internet Addiction/Overuse. We are developing our own brochure on this topic. But, for now, here are links to some good brochures at other universities and some web sites which might be useful.
