The DISCOVER
Program
What is it? DISCOVER is a computer based program that can help
with career decisions. Why try it? DISCOVER can help you organize
your interests and experiences. It also suggests and gives information
about occupations. Who can use it? Any UI student with a valid
ID number and access to the internet.
DISCOVER is organized around around five (5) areas of
exploration: Self (Inventories), Occupational, Majors,
Schools & Job search. The Inventories section allows you
to complete inventories of your interests, abilities, and
values. The Occupational section allows you to gather information
about over 500 different occupations, including those that match
your inventory results. The Majors lets you explore the
connections between specific majors and occupations, while the
School section connects with loads of information about colleges
nationwide. The Job Search section loads of useful information on
resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, internships,
apprenticeships and job search skills.
Let DISCOVER help you get started!! Where? From any computer
with Internet access. How? Contact the Counseling &
Testing Center to get a User ID. Call 885-6716 or click
here to email your request for Discover access. You will
need to provide your name and a valid UI student ID number.
