Having a hard time deciding on a career or even a direction to try? We can help. Call the CTC (885-6716) to make an appointment for a free private consultation with a professional counselor.
You can also try The DISCOVER Program, an online program that can help students with career decisions.
What is it?
DISCOVER is a computer based program that can help with career decisions.
Why try it?
DISCOVER can help you organize your interests and experiences. It also suggests and gives information about occupations.
Who can use it?
Any UI student who can access the Internet can use DISCOVER!
How does it work?
DISCOVER consists of seven separate folders, each containing several activities. You don't have to go through all of them, but each one serves a purpose and could help you in some way. These folders include: Inventories (interests, abilities, values, etc.), Occupations (generate lists and learn about specific occupations), Majors (information about majors and the careers they relate to), Schools (information about schools nationwide, including graduate schools). and Job Search (information and tips on things like resume writing and interviewing).

How do I access it?
Before you can log on to DISCOVER you will need a unique DISCOVER username. Contact the Counseling & Testing Center (208 885-6716) or visit us in room 306 of the Continuing Education Building (CEB) to get your DISCOVER username today.
